Do web based technologies enhance professional practice?
Everyone has their own opinion of the web some positive and negative but with so many websites around the world it makes you wonder how much the web based technology now effects our lives. Reading stories on new stars being born from the web makes you think how a simple photo or video could change your live if been viewed by that one person. With millions of people around the world using the web and sites such as Facebook, My Space, and Utube all wanting to be discovered, liked or just viewed you come to think how much how much the web can enhance professional practice if willing and determined to go for what you want.

I agree. Technologies are not 'good' or 'bad' for us. I think of them as nuetral. It is how we use them and for what purposes that matter.
ReplyDeleteThere is a quote from one of the people who run the innovation programmes at Cisco (which is a US based IT company). His comment is that the next generation of adults (ie: kids today) will be surprised to know that you could communicate with someone without seeing them. I remember a time working where people still sent paper memos. The debate you touch on here is when does web 2.0 technology become part of professional practice rather than being an add-on to it? What do you think?
